Conservatory
What is it?
The program is designed to help high school students prepare for careers in the arts or for admission to conservatory or collegiate arts programs. Similar to a college major, students in the program must complete a set number of classes and meet discipline-specific benchmarks before graduation. These benchmarks may include outside auditions, acquisition of learned skills, volunteer commitments, and participation in after-school productions. Additionally, students must maintain certain GPA and citizenship standards. Each artistic discipline within the program has unique requirements to address the specialized nature of the fields.

Thespian Society
What is it?
The International Thespian Society is the only theatre honor society for middle and high school students in the United States. Affiliation brings credibility and distinction to students, theatre programs, and schools. It is a visible, positive symbol of the quality of your theatre program. ITS recognizes, rewards, and encourages student achievement and celebrates the work of students in all aspects of theatre – performance and production. Each student is honored on a national level and gains access to opportunities and resources beyond those of their school.
Cappies Critics
What is it?
The Critics and Awards Program is dedicated to recognizing the talents of Orange County student writers, performers, and technical crews involved in high school theatre. Participants in the Cappies program receive training as critics, attend theatrical productions at various schools, and compose reviews. The top three reviews from each show are published online for the wider community to read. At the end of the academic year, these student critics vote to honor their peers with awards for outstanding productions, exceptional group and individual performances, and notable achievements in technical categories. Additionally, critics compete for the titles of Best Critic and Best Critic Team. These prestigious awards are presented during the annual Cappies Gala held at the National City Grove of Anaheim.
Classes
At San Juan Hills High School, we offer a variety of classes designed to enhance students' skills in theatre arts, including stagecraft and acting. Our stagecraft classes provide hands-on experience in set design, lighting, sound, and technical production, allowing students to learn the behind-the-scenes work that brings a performance to life. Meanwhile, our acting classes focus on developing performance techniques, character analysis, voice control, and movement, fostering confidence and creativity. Both classes are integral parts of our theatre program, giving students the opportunity to explore different aspects of theatre and prepare for participation in school productions.

Parent Support
The San Juan Hills High School Performing Arts Boosters is the primary fundraising and volunteer support organization for the distinguished SJHHS Performing Arts Program, which includes Choral/Vocal Arts, Dance, Instrumental Music and Theatre Arts.
Our four performing arts disciplines rely on parent donations. By providing an annual tax-deductible donation to your student's discipline, you help meet the costs associated with such a notable performing arts program and allow the teachers to further enhance the opportunities for the students. Involvement both with time and resources is vital to the Performing Arts' continued excellence.
All donations are strictly voluntary and greatly appreciated as we work to support our school and programs! Performing Arts Boosters is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and donations are tax-deductible.
